Air Show in Kraków
The VI Małopolski Piknik Lotniczy presented on June 27–28, 2009.
Description for the photo: In the foreground the PZL M-26 Iskierka, SP-DIF plane. On June 16, 2010, at the Mielec Airport, the plane was approaching the landing at too low speed and as a result of a stall, it fell a few meters and crashed. In the background is the PZL M-28 Skytruck, SP-DDA plane. The PZL Mielec M-28 Skytruck plane, number AJE001-01 and registration marks SP-DDA, has been actively participating in many air shows organized in our country for many years.
In 2009, another very successful Aviation Picnic took place. It is true that on Saturday (June 27, 2009) the weather frustrated the plans for air shows, but on Sunday (June 28, 2009) there were no such problems. Old friends showed up at the picnic, but there was no shortage of news. As usual, for the duration of the event, the Civil Aviation Authority issued a conditional consent to take off planes and helicopters from the rest of the runway (RWY). Some planes were based on Pobiednik Airport or Balice Airport. As there is a nearby descent path to the landing of planes at Balice Airport, the show zone was limited to the north and within the altitude.
The sensation of the picnic was undoubtedly the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft of the Danish military aviation. This interest resulted from the purchase by Poland of Lockheed Martin F-16 Jastrząb aircraft, which entered service in 2006. The presented plane was decommissioned as part of the reduction. The plane was carried all over Europe as a living advertisement of military technology and an incentive to join the military service.
At the picnic there were paratroopers and motor paragliders, which are the cheapest form of practicing air sports. Gyroplanes, which are becoming more and more popular each year, were at the picnic for the first time. This is due to the relatively low purchase and operating costs. However, ultra-light planes reigned supreme at the picnic.
Merchants offering the sale of aircraft once again appeared at the picnic. Once again, you could see the RotorWay helicopter purchase offer, this time in the A.600 version. It is a kit, two-person helicopter, powered by a four-cylinder RotorWay combustion engine. There was also an offer for the sale of the Hell-Sport CH-7 Kompress ultralight helicopter. The helicopter is powered by a four-cylinder Rotax engine, powered by automotive gasoline.
There was a Dornier Do.28 D Skyservant, 58 + 89 cargo plane at the picnic. There was a 3Xtrim 450 Ultra, SP-YZK plane. He was a regular at the Piper J-3C-65 Cub, SP-AWP picnic. There was the Morane-Saulnier MS-892 Rallye 150ST, SP-WUL plane. There was a Dova DV-1 Skylark, OK-KUR18 plane. There was an ultralight plane Tomark Aero SD-4 Viper, OM-M025. The plane crashed on October 1, 2011, and two people on board died. At the picnic there was an Aerobatic Extra 200, D-EEMT plane. On December 28, 2016, at the airport in Zegrze Pomorskie, while performing acrobatics, the plane collided with the ground. As a result of this incident, the aircraft completely burned down and the pilot was seriously injured.
In the air, we could admire Mr. Jurgis Kairys in acrobatics on the Sukhoi Su-31 plane. There was also an aerobatic Extra 200 in the air and two Zlin Z-50 LS planes of the "Żelazny" team.
There was also an unusual plane at the picnic. The Consolidated PBY Catalina is an American patrol flying boat and amphibious aircraft, built in 1935. In the following years, this extraordinary plane was hosted many times at various Polish air shows.
At the picnic, the TS-11 Iskra plane and its cabin, which could be boarded by everyone, were very popular.
The number of military reconstruction groups increased. There was also a staging of a battle from the Second World War in France.
