Pterodactyl Flight
Pterodactyl Flight is one of the most spectacular groups at air shows, which in Poland performed for the first time in 2015 in Rybnik. Since then, she has visited Poland several times. Pterodactyl Flight presents air stories from the First and Second World War, although recently focused on the Great World War.
The firm Pterodactyl Ltd.
Pterodactyl Ltd. is a company registered in England in 2012, with production workshops located in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the production of aircraft from the First and Second World Wars. It brings together aviation enthusiasts who have been designing and building aircraft in the ultralight category (ULL) since the beginning of the 21st century. Pterodactyl Ltd. builds airworthy replicas and static aircraft specially designed for film, demonstration and exhibitions. The company emphasizes: maintaining maximum authenticity in production processes, refining details and reliability. The manufactured aircraft are thoroughly tested in accordance with the standards set by Pterodactyl Flight. Members of the Pterodactyl Flight group emphasize that one of their goals is to appreciate the achievements of our predecessors from the first years of aviation.
Pterodactyl Ltd. manufactures replicas of historic machines from World War I and II. The priority in production is to make the most of or closely imitate old techniques. Unfortunately, not all methods are currently available. Replicas are built in the category of ultra-light aircraft, using construction methods: wooden wings, metal fuselage structure made of steel pipes and canvas covering. The construction time for one aircraft is from 12 to 18 months. So far, the following aircraft have been built: Piper L-4 H, Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5, Fokker E-III, Sopwith 1½ Strutter, Fokker D-VII, Fokker Dr.1.
Flying aircraft are just one form of business. Another is the construction of non-flying replicas for static exhibitions. So far: Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX, Albatros D.V, Junkers Ju-87 D Stuka have been built. Airplanes modeled on structures from the Great World War are also being built, which are burned during the show. These planes are metal constructions, covered with paper. During the show only paper is burning, but the effect is nice.

The Pterodactyl Flight show is a real spectacle, with a script. The Pterodactyl Flight group has tents of two enemy bases, English and German, in the take-off field. All participants of the show are dressed in period costumes. They have cars, cannon and period equipment at their disposal. The show begins with the take-off of German aircraft that bomb English positions. There are pyrotechnic effects: explosions, fires and a lot of smoke. An English car is on fire. Then follows the take-off of English aircraft. There are air duels between enemy planes. Series of machine guns are heard. One of the German aircraft is shot down. Emergency landing. Failed emergency landing simulates an airplane on the ground that is set on fire. A team of soldiers rushes to the rescue and drives a car. Unfortunately, the flyer dies. The fallen airman even has his grave.
At various shows, there are often changes in the script. There are also other aircraft. The group uses new elements and gives up others. So, each show is unique and unique.
The Pterodactyl Flight group performed in Poland in: Rybnik, Bielsko Biała, Nowy Targ, Radom, Depułtycze Królewskie, Ławica, Katowice-Muchowiec, Gliwice and others. In some places at least twice.
