As every year, an air picnic was held in Nowy Targ, which greatly pleased aviation enthusiasts, residents of the city, and visitors. This was the fourteenth edition of the Nowy Targ Air Picnic, which took place on July 5-6, 2025.

This year’s show in Nowy Targ must be considered a great success. The weather was great, and above all, the spectators. It is estimated that there were about 30,000 spectators over the two days. The event organizers aspire to make the Nowy Targ Air Picnic the largest aviation event in Southern Poland. Especially since there have been no air shows in Bielsko-Biała (Aleksandrów airport) and Katowice (Muchowiec airport) for several years.

The Nowy Targ Air Show brings together very good pilots flying individually and in teams, on various types of aircraft, from Poland and abroad. The main organizer of the event was the Nowotarski Aeroclub. The organizers provided parking spaces for the audience on a separate part of the take-off field. For those travelling by car, there was also the possibility of parking in the City of Nowy Targ and a 10-minute walk through the meadows and along the footbridge over the Biały Dunajec River to the Airport. Many spectators arrived on bicycles and motorcycles. Admission to the event was free. The show featured numerous stalls, company stands, catering stands, an amusement park for children, young people and slightly older people. As every year, there was a stage where bands performed and competitions were held. Toilets and a medical point were not forgotten. Car and ATV sellers had their stands, as well as the Polish Army. Throughout the show, three Cessna 172/182 aircraft performed sightseeing flights.

The shows began with parachute jumps with flags and two tandem jumps. The parachutists were dropped from the PZL An-2 “Wiedeńczyk” aircraft no. 1G7447, registration SP-MLP, which is under the care of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow. The Wiedeńczyk was transferred to the Polish Aviation Museum in 2012, thus definitively ending its service at the 8th Transport Aviation Base in Balice.

There was a dynamic show of the PZL W-3 Sokół TOPR SP-SKW helicopter. There was a Yakovlev Yak-18 aircraft registration SP-YYY, which belongs to the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow and is a flying relic. There was a historical, flying glider called “Wrona bis” registration SP-GKTM, which took off to fly pulled by a car. The glider is under the care of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow. Two historical Albatros D-III aircraft, replicas, from the period of the Great World War, were demonstrated. There were also two Piper Cub L-4H aircraft known from many shows. The Polish aircraft PZL M-26 “Iskierka” SP-DIC aroused great interest. After being manufactured in Poland, the presented specimen was transported to the USA, where it served its owner for many years. After many years, it was sold and returned to Poland. There was a replica RWD-5 aircraft. The Firebirds aerobatic group was in the air. There was a ROBINSON R-44 SP-HPM helicopter, in gold paint. There was a Bolkow Bo-105 nb 86-49 helicopter. A big attraction was the dynamic display of the SB Lim-2 nb 006 SP-UTI aircraft. And there were many other attractions in the air.
