The 44th Naval Air Base was established on January 1, 2003 at Siemirowice airport and Darłowo airport, through the transformation of the Security Battalions in Siemirowice and Darłowo. The main task of the 44th Base was to secure the operation of the 29th Air Squadron and the 30th Air Squadron.

On January 1, 2001, the 9th Regiment of Fighter Aircraft was transformed into the 24th Air Base (JW. 1133) and 9th Tactical Aviation Squadron. In 2002, it was decided to liquidate the base and squadron. MiG-21 bis planes were relayed to Krzesiny Airport. The base was demoulded on November 27, 2002.

Until 2000, the 3rd Fighter Aviation Regiment was stationed at Krzesiny Airport and operated MiG-21 aircraft. In 1999, the 17th Aviation Squadron from Ławica Airport was incorporated into the Regiment. Until 2000, the 7th Fighter-Bomber Regiment, equipped with Sukhoi Su-22 combat aircraft, was stationed at the airport in Powidz. Then the airport in Powidz was renamed the Transport Aviation Base, where Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport planes are stationed.
