In 2012, PLL LOT ordered small-size commercial planes Bombardier DHC-8-400. In total, the condition of Polish carriers: EuroLot, LOT Polish Airlines received 13 copies of these planes. The Bombardier DHC-8-400 planes in LOT Polish Airlines have 78 passenger seats. Currently (2021), the management of PLL LOT is considering withdrawing these aircraft from service.

Bombardier DHC-8-400 aircraft are manufactured in Canada. By June 2018, 1,249 were built. The company "Bombardier Aerospace" in Canada operated in the period 1992 – 2019. In 2019, there were changes in the ownership of the plant in Canada and the plant was renamed "De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited" in Canada in Toronto. De Havilland Canada is part of the Longview Aviation Capital Group. The factory continues to produce DHC-8-400 aircraft, with an order backlog for 58 more aircraft.

Two Bombardier Q400 NextGen planes fly with LOT Polish Airlines on Danish registrations: OY-YBY and OY-YBZ.

The DHC-8-400 aircraft with registration OY-YBZ, serial number 4148, was built in April 2007. The plane was flown under the C-FJLE registration. The aircraft was handed over to the Flybe carrier in the Y78 configuration. In September 2009, the aircraft was acquired by Olympic Air under registration SX-BIT. In April 2017, the aircraft was acquired by Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) with registration OY-YBZ. Since June 2018, the aircraft has been used by PLL LOT, with the OY-YBZ registration.
