11th International Aviation Picnic of the Euroregion Beskidy. Aviation Picnic at Aleksandrowice Airport (Bielsko Biała) 2014.

August 30-31, 2014.

The Aviation Picnic at the Airport in Bielsko-Biała is an event that has already entered the calendar of air shows. The main organizer and host of the picnic is Aeroklub Bielsko-Bialski. The picnic is the event that closes the holiday season, because it is organized at the end of August. It’s really a fun and relaxing time. Well organized, with a good program. This is a picnic for all families. For children, teenagers and adults. Everyone can find something for themselves here. And those who only occasionally view aircrafts and those who live by aviation every day. Like any such event, only good weather is necessary. And this year was the weather. Importantly, admission to the picnic is free. In addition, the organizers provide 250 parking spaces in a separate part of the take-off area, for a small fee of 6 zlotys, as a contribution to the activities of the Bielsko-Bialski Aero Club.

One more note for spoters. As in Radom or Giżycko, air shows take place on the south side, which is why viewers often watch them against the sun. Since the Aleksandrovice Airport is not very large, it is worth choosing the eastern or western edge of the landing area for better light and therefore better photos.

This year’s eleventh International Aviation Picnic of the Beskidy Euroregion was held on August 30-31, 2014. (Saturday Sunday).

The core of the event is the performances of aerial acrobatics stars. Pilots fly here a lot and willingly, because there are no such restrictions as, for example, in Czyżyny (collision with the approach path to landing commercial aircraft at Balice Airport, high-voltage power lines, high skyscrapers), or at Germanic citizens (exceeding noise emission standards). This year there was also the best in the world and very popular in Poland aerobatic pilot Jurgis Kairys, who attracts fans of aerobatics like a magnet. Jurgis Kairys showed the new individual acrobatics program by doing it several times.

There was also Mr. Uve Zimmermann with a demonstration on the Extra 300 plane. This plane is very popular among pilots practicing aerobatics.

Mr. Artur Kielak was from the Polish side. A glider pilot, parachute jumper, captain of commercial Boeing 737 aircraft and an aerobatic pilot associated with the Polish and Spanish Aero Club. Former member of the Żelazny group. He is currently practicing acrobatics on the Extra 330 plane.

At the picnic, the multimedia artist Sebastian Kawa presented his piloting skills on the Diana II glider. His achievements so far in the most important gliding competitions in the world are stunning. The collection consists of: 10 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals of the world championships, 1 gold medal of the World Aviation Games, and 5 Europe. In the world elite of glider pilots, only Mr. Sebastian Kawa can boast of such a number of titles.

Our subjective voice. If someone hoped that, as at previous events, he would see the F-16 Jastrząb from Krzesin or Łask in low flight, or at least CASA C-295 from the 8th Transport Aviation Base from Balice, then he was disappointed. However, not only the viewers in Bialsko-Biała experienced such a disappointment. Because even purely military events, such as the 20th anniversary of Naval Aviation in Babie Doły, were significantly reduced by the then command of the Polish Army. Pilot General Lech Majewski assumes that if the aircraft do not fly, there are no accidents and disasters and can boast of "excellent" command. Only that, apart from the crews of C-130 Hercules, CASA C-295 and several F-16 Jastrząb pilots, all the others have modest annual raids.

During both days of the show, there were sightseeing flights over the city and the Beskids. The passenger flight with the An-2 plane was for PLN 80, and on the Wilga plane – PLN 120. The bravest ones could perform a parachute jump in tandem with an instructor. There was no shortage of people willing. The price of such an attraction was 700 zlotys and a 15-minute course before the jump. The program of the event included music bands and orchestras on a set stage. There were contests with prizes funded by sponsors. There are many attractive games for children. There were carousels, queues and others for children and adults. Fireworks show in the evening. There was a rich offer of numerous catering stands. There were numerous stalls; military, toys and more.
