Steam locomotive Ty3, Ty43.
Ty3 locomotives is the Polish designation of the German BR42 steam locomotive from the Second World War. The locomotives were produced by various manufacturers. After the war, the steam locomotives were manufactured at HCP and FABLOK, based on elements left at the factory in Elbląg, and received the Polish designation Ty43. Production lasted from 1946 to 1949 and 126 were built. Axis system 1'E (1-5-0 or oOOOOO), Polish designation small letter "y".
Ty3.
When Germany produced the BR42 locomotives, the German government ordered a simplified version of this locomotive to be developed in order to reduce production costs and the amount of materials used. It was necessary because the Germans needed thousands of locomotives to continue their conquest of Europe. The steam locomotive was created by combining the boiler of the BR44 (Ty4) steam locomotive with the chassis system of the BR52 (Ty2) steam locomotive. The boiler has been reworked to make it lighter in order to get adequate axle load. The fire pipes in the boiler were shortened.
In the period 1944 - 1945, in German and under German occupation, 844 locomotives of the BR42 series were built for war purposes. After the war, the BR42 locomotives were still produced for Austria and West Germany.
After the war, there were three BR42 steam locomotives in Poland. The BR42 military steam locomotives in PKP were designated Ty3. Steam locomotives operated in Gdańsk, Poznań and Lublin. In 1952, these steam locomotives received a new designation by including them in the new Ty43 series and were given the numbers Ty43-126, Ty43-127, Ty43-129. In 1990, the Ty43-126 locomotive was repaired at ZNTK Piła and was subscribed to the historical number Ty3-2.
Ty43.
The Ty43 series was produced after the Second World War on the basis of parts left by the Germans at the Schichau plant in Elblag. The steam locomotives were built at HCP plants in Poznań and FABLOK in Chrzanów. The first steam locomotive was built at HCP in 1946 and was equipped with the tender type 32D47. In total, 126 Ty43 steam locomotives were built. Two locomotives were delivered to the mining industry, and the rest were handed over to the Polish State Railways. The production was carried out in the period 1946 - 1949. Ty43 steam locomotives operated, among others, in Poznań, Wrocław, Szczecin, Lublin and Gniezno. In the 1950s, several locomotives were equipped with stokers, which were dismantled in the 1970s. The last steam locomotives finished their work in 1990.
Ty43-9.
Ty43-9 Factory number 994. Built in 1946. The last place of work of the Ty43-9 locomotive is Sędziszów. On April 4, 1990, the locomotive ended service. The locomotive was put back on the slope to Lublin. In November 1993, the locomotive was handed over to the Chabówka open-air museum. The locomotive has tender # 0D43-9.
