60 years of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków.
In 2023, the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków celebrated its 60th anniversary. The Polish Aviation Museum, as the Aviation and Astronautics Museum, was established in 1963 at the Rakowice-Czyżyny military-civil airport, which at that time was scheduled to be closed due to the construction of the "Nowa Huta" residential district in Krakow and a metallurgical plant named after a bandit, communist Vladimir Lenin.
The celebrations of the museum's 60th anniversary were celebrated for several days. Already on June 16, 2023, a jubilee concert of the band "Another Pink Floyd" took place, for fans of the music of the Pink Floyd band, which took place at 19:30. Tickets were available for PLN 99.
The most important event was the Aviation Picnic organized on June 18, 2023, from 10:00 to 19:00. Entrance tickets cost PLN 15. The entrance to the museum was through four gates, and because the weather was fine, Cracovians showed up in droves. It was sunny and the temperature was 24 degrees Celsius. The gates opened at 10:00. At 11:00 a.m. the holy mass was held. At 1:00 p.m. there was a performance by the Representative Orchestra of the Air Force. There were two blocks of air shows of various aircraft, mainly ultralight ones. The first show took place at 14:00 and the second at 16:00. The planes for the show took off from the airport in Pobiednik and returned there.
There were numerous stands at the picnic; Polish Army, reenactment groups, aviation modeling enthusiasts, a parachute jumping simulator, a container shooting range, a Martian rover, a mobile T-34 tank, a mobile self-propelled gun, an amusement park, games and activities for children, gastronomic and commercial stands. The museum cinema featured presentations of feature films and documentaries on aviation.
