The airport is of a sports type. The airport manager is the Podhalański Aeroclub. The airport has the ICAO code – EPNL. The airport was put into use in 1960, during a ceremony attended by the commander of the Air Force, General Jan Frej Bielecki. The landing field of the airport was made by the Engineering Forces. At that time, the Polish Aeroclub was subordinated to Military Aviation. Since 1969, the airport has been listed in the register of airports of the Civil Aviation Authority under item 15 (registration no. 16).

The airport is located in the town of Łososina Dolna, 20 km from Nowy Sącz in the meridional direction. It is 90 km from the airport to Kraków, 49 km to Tarnów, and 340 km to Warsaw. Access to the airport is very good, because the airport is located on the national road No. 75 Kraków – Nowy Sącz.

The landing area of the airport is dirt. There is a designated RWY at the airport with dimensions of 800 m x 150 m, (800 m x 60 m) in direction 043 / 223. Radio; Łososina Radio 122.200 MHz (previously 127.940 MHz). The airport serves VFR air traffic. There is no lighting at the airport for night flights. There is no possibility to hangar aircraft. It is possible to anchor aircraft on the stands. The gas station is across the road.

The airport is the cradle of modeling rocket and airplane sport. National and international competitions are often held here. Annual air festivals are organized at the airport. Regulars at the airport call it "Green Meadow". Glider and airplane training is conducted at the airport. There are also sightseeing flights, mainly towards the mountains.

The flying club has a relatively large number of aircraft. In 2013, there were 14 gliders and 6 planes here. The largest aircraft is the PZL An-2 aircraft. There are also several private aircraft at the airport.
