Air Show Radom. 2023 year.
On August 26-27, 2023, the 17th edition of the Air Show took place in Radom. The organizer was the Military Property Agency, in cooperation with the General Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces. The previous Air Shows took place in 2018, five years ago. Although in 2021, there was an Open Barracks Day in Radom.
The venue of the event was Radom Sadków Airport, belonging to the 4th Aviation Wing of the Polish Air Force, and the host was the 42nd Training Aviation Base (name since January 1, 2011). Previously, the 2nd Aviation Training Center and the 1st Airport Command were located here, which were the heirs of the 60th Training Regiment. Currently, PZL-130 Orlik and PZL M-28 Bryza aircraft are based at Sadków Airport. Training for multi-role and transport aircraft is carried out here. The airport is the seat of the "Orlik" aerobatic team. The co-user of Sadków Airport is Radom Airport, which has its own terminal here. Since 2023, the Warsaw-Radom Airport has been operating here, which records a dynamic increase in commercial transport.
Since 2005, Air Show Radom has been held every two years, i.e. in odd years. Since 2018 was a special year, not only for Polish Aviation, but also for the Republic of Poland, therefore it was planned to cancel the 2017 edition. Only thanks to the Minister of National Defense, Antoni Macierewicz, the event took place in 2017 and another in 2018.
Tickets for Air Show Radom could be purchased online or at ticket offices before the event. The prices were as follows: a normal one-day ticket PLN 70 for Saturday and PLN 60 for Sunday. The city authorities of Radom provided additional public transport. Additional municipal car parks have been organized. Parking spaces on private properties were also provided by their owners, at the price of PLN 50 per day. There were four entrances to the airport. The weather was perfect both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the temperature was a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 27 degrees Celsius. There was no rain. The airport gates opened at 09:00. The event ended at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
For us, the highlight of the show was the KIA FA-50 training and combat aircraft.
About 150 aircraft presented themselves in the air and on their stands. 19 countries participated. Historical and modern aircraft were presented. The star of the show was the Patrouille Suisse team from Switzerland on Northrop F-5E Tiger II aircraft. We could already admire this band in Radom. A novelty was the night show, which took place on Saturday, from 19:00 to 21:00.
