TWISTER AEROBATICS TEAM.<\/h3>\n
This year, the undisputed star of the picnic was the night performance of TWISTER AEROBATICS TEAM – Peter Wells, Chris Burkett (Great Britain).<\/p>\n
The history of the team began with radio-controlled flying models. In 2004, the first Silence SA180 Twister composite single-seat aircraft was produced and demonstrated at the 2008 Abingdon Air & Country Show. Initially, Peter Wells performed solo, giving nighttime light shows. Since 2009, the planes received more powerful engines, which allowed them to perform full acrobatics. The group gave shows in Europe and Asia (Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates). The main purpose of the shows was advertising. In 2010, the band demonstrated their first full-scale pyrotechnic effects show at the Bournemouth Air Festival. The sponsors and the band’s name have changed. The planes were repainted in the corporate SWIP colors and registered G-SWIP and G-ZWIP. The ensemble has given day and night, public and private performances all over Europe. In 2012, a new pyrotechnic container was developed for the team, offering maximum protection for the aircraft. Also in 2012, Jon Gowdy joined the band, allowing for more flexible performances. In 2013, the team had its third plane; Twister G-JINX. The sponsors continued to change, and from year to year there were more and more venues.<\/p>\n
In Poland, the TWISTER AEROBATICS TEAM demonstrated two planes (G-TWST and G-JINX) and a total of three shows. While the day show was at a good level, the night show took the viewers’ breath away. Never before had I seen a show where the audience was so focused and wide-eyed following every airborne evolution of planes with sparks falling behind them. The start took place at the last streaks of the setting sun, with already good gray light. First, the pilots turned on the light illumination of the planes, then the pyrotechnic flares placed on the wingtips. Fantastic effect. The flares lasted about 8-10 minutes.
