In 1985, four Moscow airports: Bukovo, Vnukovo, Domadedovo and Sheremetyevo, handled 33 million passengers, and in 1986 – 40 million. At that time, it was planned to build a fifth airport for Moscow located north, behind Sheremetyevo airport. This plan has not been implemented.<\/p>\n
After the collapse of CCCP, air transport in Moscow collapsed. In 1990, a total of about 10 million passengers were transported.<\/p>\n
In 1991, the Aeroflot ministry, the world’s largest air carrier, was dissolved. In its place, several transport companies operating on a commercial basis were created. The name Aeroflot remained with one of the companies that went bankrupt after a few years.<\/p>\n
In 2015, Moscow airports: Domadedovo, Sheremetyevo, Wnukowo, Ostafjewo and Zhukovsky carried nearly 80 million passengers.<\/p>\n
