Pszczyna is a city in Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship, in the Pszczyna Commune. Currently, the city has a population of 25,622, in 2021. The area of the city is 22.49 square kilometers. The height above sea level is 240 - 293 m. Pszczyna is called the Pearl of Upper Silesia. The main tourist attraction in the city is the Palace in Pszczyna. The city is located in the Oświęcim Basin, near Lake Goczałkowickie, in a highly urbanized area.
The settlement received city rights in 1303. Historically, the city is located in Lesser Poland. Due to the division of districts, the land of Pszczyna found itself under the rule of the Duke of Opole and Racibórz. Subsequently, Pszczyna was absorbed by Upper Silesia due to industrial connections.
Road transport.
Road transport in the area of Pszczyna is well developed. The main road is highway No. 1 E75; Gdańsk - Toruń - Włocławek - Łódź - Piotrków Trybunalski - Częstochowa - GOP - Pszczyna - Bielsko Biała - Zwardoń. There are also four Provincial Roads: No. 931 (Pszczyna - Jankowice - Międzyrzecze - Bojszowy - Bieruń). No. 933 (Rzuchów - Wodzisław Śląski - Jastrzębie-Zdrój - Pawłowice - Pszczyna - Miedźna - Brzeszcze - Oświęcim - Chrzanów). No. 935 (Racibórz - Rydułtowy - Rybnik - Żory - Suszec - Pszczyna). No. 939 (Pszczyna - Łąka - Wisła Wielka - Stream - Dobrzeków).
Pszczyna Railway Station.
The railway station in Pszczyna (Pless) was opened on November 15, 1868. The name Pszczyna appeared in January 1921, when the Pszczyna Land was annexed to Poland. After September 1, 1939, the name was changed again to Pless. But on July 14, 1946, the name was changed again to Pszczyna. Pszczyna is a junction station. Railway line No. 139 runs through the station and railway line No. 148 begins.
Pszczyna station has a railway station opened in 1868. Both world wars spared the station from destruction. The last renovation of the station was made in 2014. There is a shelter next to the station building. There are ticket offices, toilets and a waiting room at the station.
The station has two platforms. Platform 1 has a single edge and is located next to the station building. Mainly passenger trains depart from this platform in the direction of: Katowice, Zwardoń, Żywiec, Bielsko Biała. Platform 2 is an island platform and has two edges. Trains depart from this platform in the direction of: Katowice, Warsaw, Gdynia, Zakopane. There are bus shelters on the platforms. Access to Platform 2 is possible via a footbridge over the tracks. There was a locomotive depot at the Pszczyna station. Currently, the building houses a repair shop. The water tower is not in use.
Railway traffic at the Pszczyna station is handled by the "Psz" signal box, which also serves the barriers at the rail-road crossing along Dworcowa Street. The signal box is located in the northern head of the station. There is also an executive signal box "Psz1" at the station in the southern head of the station. At this point, Bielska Street (provincial road No. 933) passes under the railway viaduct. There are traffic lights at the station. Trains of all categories stop at the Pszczyna station. 31 passenger trains leave the Pszczyna station every day.

Railway line No. 139.
The railway line No. 139 Katowice – Zwardoń has a length of 113.695 km and is electrified. The maximum speed on the line is 140 km/h. Most of the trail is double track. The Pszczyna station is located at km 35.918 of the route. The line was built in the period 1852 - 1912. Electrification was carried out in the period 1961-1986. In 1961, the section Katowice - Katowice Ligota was electrified, in 1963, Katowice Ligota - Bielsko-Biała Główna, in 1970, Bielsko-Biała Główna - Żywiec, and in 1986, Żywiec - Zwardoń. The section Zwardoń – Skalité-Serafínov was last electrified in 2002. The first section of Katowice - Ligota was launched on December 1, 1852. The Dziedzice - Bielsko Biała section was opened on December 17, 1855. The Tychy - Dziedzice section was opened on November 15, 1868. The section Bielsko - Żywiec was opened on August 18, 1878. The Żywiec – Zwardoń section was opened on November 3, 1884. The Ligota – Tychy section was opened on November 2, 1912. In 1963, on the section Katowice - Bielsko-Biała Główna, a second track was installed. In 1990, the second track was installed on the Bielsko-Biała Lipnik - Wilkowice Bystra section.
Line No. 148 Pszczyna - Rybnik.
Line No. 148 Pszczyna - Rybnik was built in 1939. The line has a length of 36.612 km. The line was electrified in 1973 on the Żory - Rybnik section and in 1982 on the Pszczyna - Żory section. The renovation of the line was carried out in the period 2017-2019.
