The J-2 Polonez amateur aircraft is a development of the J-1 Prząśniczka aircraft, which was built by Mr. Jarosław Janowski together with colleagues from the Łódź Aeroclub. Mr. Andrzej Wiśniewski assisted Mr. Jarosław Janowski in the construction of the J-2 Polonez aircraft. The new aircraft was also built of wood, with the engine placed behind the cabin and with a pusher propeller. The landing gear system was changed to a fixed, three-support landing gear with a tail wheel. Initially, the landing gear was in a bicycle configuration (single-track), with a steel spring.

A two-stroke engine from a Trabant 601 car with a capacity of 600 cm3 was used for the drive. The engine adaptation was carried out by Mr. Józef Leniec from Szczecinek in 1977. The aircraft was first flown on August 22, 1977, and the pilot was Mr. Józef Leniec.

In Poland, several copies of the J-2 Polonez aircraft were built, which were usually powered by engines from the Trabant 601 car. There was also a plane with a Walter Micron engine. In 2017, a copy was built powered by a Rotax engine. In total, around 200 copies of the J-2 Polonez were built worldwide, based on documentation developed by Mr. Jarosław Janowski.

The J-2 Polonez shown in the photo was built by Mr. Andrzej Fiuk, a member of the Aeroklub in Grudziądz. Mr. Andrzej Fiuk, in agreement with Mr. Jarosław Janowski, made several modifications to the design. He used a cabin frame made of metal tubes, to which the landing gear was added. The interior of the cabin was enlarged. The builder enlarged the vertical tail. The plane received a new designation J-2B. An engine from the Trabant 601 car was used. The plane was built from 1986. The first flight was made in 1991, with the test pilot Mr. January Roman. The aircraft was registered with the registration SP-048, as a motor glider. The aircraft took part in numerous meetings and air shows.

T-T data of the amateur aircraft J-2: Wingspan 7.24 m. Length 5.06 m. Height 1.50 m. Empty weight 180 kg. Take-off weight 290 kg. Maximum speed 160 km/h. Cruising speed 140 km/h. Landing speed 85 km/h.
