Until 2011, at the Pruszcz Gdański Airport, he was based 49th Regiment of Combat Helicopters. On January 1, 2012, 49th Air Base was established (JW. 1300). The base was subordinated to the 1st Aviation Brigade of Land Forces.

Helicopters are used in the base: PZL Mi-2, Mil Mi-24. Due to the ending time of useof helicopters, the base threatens to be liquidated. At the beginning of the 21st century, there were plans to transform the airport into a civilian airport. However, this has not been done. It is possible that the helicopters will reach the base, which Poland is to buy as part of the "Kruk" program. There is a plan to station US troops in Pruszcz Gdański. Another plan is to place rocket troops here. In 2018, the records on the possible liquidation of the base were removed. The base is preparing for the renovation of the infrastructure.
