3rd Transport Aviation Wing. 2009-…
On April 1, 2007, the 3rd Transport Aviation Wing was established. The patron of the tactical union was Colonel Pilot Bolesław Orliński, who became famous for his flight on the route Warsaw – Tokyo – Warsaw. On August 15, 2011, the unit received the banner. Unit Day is celebrated on June 1 each year. The headquarters of the unit was located in Powidz.
The 3rd Transport Aviation Wing (3 SLTr) is a tactical association of the Polish Air Force, designed to organize and supervise air transport security for all types of armed forces and perform tasks within the air search and rescue system.
Historically, the 3 SLTr comes from the 3rd Transport Aviation Brigade, which was formed on April 1, 2007, but on January 1, 2009, the name was changed to the 3rd Transport Aviation Wing. The basis was the order of the Air Force Commander No. PF 198 of August 26, 2008.
The 3rd Transport Aviation Wing includes: 1st Transport Aviation Base in Warsaw. 8. Transport Aviation Base in Krakow. 33. Transport Aviation Base in Powidz. 1st Search and Rescue Group in Świdwin. 2. Search and Rescue Group in Mińsk Mazowiecki. 3. Search and Rescue Group in Kraków.
Due to the variety of tasks, the 3rd SLTr has a variety of flying equipment: Lockheed C-130E Hercules in Powidz. CASA C-295 M in Krakow. Boeing B.737-800 in Warsaw. Gulfstream G550 in Warsaw. PZL M-28 Bryza in Krakow and Powidz. helicopters; PZL W-3 Sokol, Mi-8, Mi-17, PZL Mi-2.
