32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask. 2010
Since 2010.
On January 1, 2010, by order of the Ministry of National Defense, the 32nd Air Base and the 10th Tactical Aviation Squadron were reformed and the 32nd Tactical Aviation Base was established. In this way, two organizational units became a monolith.
The 32nd Tactical Air Base plays an important role in the defense system of the Republic of Poland. The base operates in the NATO system, of which Poland has been a member since 1999. Since 2008, Lockheed Martin F-16 Jastrząb aircraft have been stationed at the Base. The base is a unit with new structures that meet NATO requirements. The base operates as part of the 2nd Tactical Aviation Wing with headquarters in Poznań. The main task of the 32nd BLT is to improve capabilities in counteracting military and non-military crisis threats, including air terrorism and securing the training of the air squadron, as well as securing the activities of allied troops. The base is one of the most modern units of the Polish Army, which constantly takes part in international exercises both in Europe and around the world. As one of the two units in Poland, it has multi-role F-16 aircraft, with excellent combat capabilities in the field of air combat and specialized tasks, mainly electronic reconnaissance.
Activities outside Poland.
Practically every year; aircraft, pilots and ground staff take part in exercises and stabilization missions outside the borders of the Republic of Poland. In September 2021, an allied mission was carried out to support Iceland’s peacetime capabilities in the field of airspace surveillance and interception of air targets in the Republic of Iceland.
Military surveillance of the airspace of the Republic of Iceland was a mission carried out as part of the Air Surveillance and Interception Capability to meet Iceland’s Peacetime Preparedness Needs (ASIC IPPN), based on the NATO Military Committee’s concept of the NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defense System – NATINAMDS). This was due to allied obligations and the fact that this country does not have the ability to independently implement military surveillance of the airspace over its own territory.
Rotational duties of NATO member states within ASIC IPPN have been performed since 2008. Each component is located at the Icelandic Coast Guard air base at Keflavík Airport and consists of 4-8 aircraft performing 3-4 week rotations. Unlike the Baltic Air Policing mission, NATO fighters perform tasks in Iceland only on a rotational basis, about three times a year, without maintaining the continuity of the contingents’ stay. Air Policing missions were performed there by, among others, Czechs, Danes and Americans.
Poland joined the group of ten North Atlantic Alliance countries responsible for protecting NATO airspace in the Iceland region. The tasks include providing assistance to aircraft crews in emergency situations and possibly protecting the population and troops against air attacks.
In addition to patrol flights, training flights are also carried out to maintain continuity of training, and the entire project is also known as ASICIPPN, i.e. "Airborne Surveillance and Interception Capabilities to meet Iceland’s Peacetime Prepareness Need". As part of the 42nd rotation of NATO Forces, fulfilling allied obligations, Poland carried out the mission of military surveillance of the airspace of the Republic of Iceland, in the period from September 6, 2021 to September 27, 2021. The main core of the contingent were soldiers from the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask. In accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, four F-16 aircraft with weapons and equipment and up to 140 soldiers and military personnel took part in the mission.
On February 24, 2022, the state of Moscow attacked Ukraine by force, which was a continuation of the aggression from 2014. The war in Ukraine meant that the Polish Army had to increase its tasks in the defense of Poland. Additionally, the Polish United Right Government increased the budget for the purchase of new weapons and reactivated military units liquidated by the previous governments. Agreements were concluded for the purchase of F-35, FA-50 aircraft, helicopters, missiles and others. Let’s hope that the current (2024) government of volksdeutsch, communists and freemasons will not break all these contracts.
