MiG-21 in the 28th PLM. 1973.
In 1973, MiG-21 MF planes were put into service in the regiment, equipping them with the 1st and 2nd squadrons. The planes were brand new. The regiment accepted them in the period 1973-1974, 22 or 24 copies. There are discrepancies in the sources. Two new MiG-21 UM training and combat vehicles were also commissioned. Thanks to these new machines, the Regiment was able to completely write off MiG-19 fighters. However, the service life of the MiG-21 MF fighters in the 28th Regiment was very short, because in 1979 a new type of MiG-23 fighter was adopted for service.
