Mirage III C with the SEPR engine.
In France, a rocket engine of the SEPR type for combat aircraft was developed. The resulting version of the SEPR 841 engine could be mounted on Mirage III C aircraft. The engine was mounted under the rear part of the fuselage with bolted connections. Aviation kerosene is the fuel and nitric acid is the oxidant. A mixture of triethylamine and xylidine, called TX2, is used to achieve ignition. The SEPR 841 engine achieves a thrust of 15 kN (1,530 kG). The Mirage III C plane with the SEPR 841 engine made its first flight in 1960. In 1961, aircraft with the option of an additional rocket engine entered service, which lasted until 1970.
